Tampa Bay Redfish Fishing!

The Redfish fishing in Tampa Bay and the near shore waters of the Gulf of Mexico is year round. Our fish range in size from 8” to 40lbs. We have a large population of resident fish from the small juvenile fish in our back creeks and bayous to fish up to approximately 15lbs in bayous, mangrove shore lines and open grass flats. We have large breeder fish that travel the beach and enter the bay during their annual migration.

Most of the redfish fishing I do is on open grass flats, around Mangrove shorelines and over sand bottom where they can be easily sight fished. From Nov thru March we have consistent fishing on low tides for tailing fish. Our sight fishing is primarily a fly fishing or artificial bait game where you find individual fish and make a cast to that fish. We also spend time fishing schools of Redfish, but along with fishing artificial we add live or dead bait to the arsenal. Sometimes our schools of Redfish can be heavily pressured and the natural bait help ensure success. While out looking for Redfish we will also find Trout and Snook along with the occasional cobia.
