Typical day
There is really no "typical day" sight fishing around Tampa bay with Captain Dave, every day is unique depending on the weather and tides. But here is some information which will help you make your plans and give you an idea of the excitiment you have coming your way!.

The
day generally begins meeting early in the morning around 7:00 am, depending on
tide at the boat ramp at Gulfport marina in South St Petersburg, right on
beautiful Boca Ciega Bay. (This location can change from time to time, depending
on the season and the target species for the day.
Shake hands, load the boat and in just a few minutes, you'll be fishing.
Charters are for one or two people and are either five or eight hours. You will need to bring a lunch, (I'll have a cooler with ice on board,) polarized sunglasses, sun block, a rain jacket / windbreaker and boat shoes, unless you choose to go barefoot. Please don't wear street shoes or cleated hiking sandals!
You're
welcome to bring your own tackle or use mine, I've got all the flies and
terminal tackle too, but I'm always curious about what other people are fishing,
so bring flies too. A good weed guard is almost essential for most of the
fishing around Tampa Bay, you're almost always casting around obstructions. A
fishing license is not required when fishing with a guide in Florida.
Before long, you'll be looking at fish and casting to them, the day will go fast
and before you know it it will be time for lunch or a snack. Don't forget your
camera, you will surely want pictures of your catch!

The
day will end back at Gulfport Marina with a new friendship
and some great
fishing memories. Make plans to fish soon with Captain Dave!
Species Schedule
Tarpon - Generally we start looking for tarpon around the 3rd week of April with great fishing in May and right on through the summer until Thanksgiving. Fishing the beaches until July, then moving more into Tampa bay the rest of the season.
Early Fall Fishing we move away from the Tarpon and as the cold weather sets in we focus on Snook on the beaches and also start working the shallow water flats for Snook, Trout and Redfish.
During the cold weather months we target Redfish and large Sea Trout in the shallow water flats.
There is
always something to fish for around Tampa Bay and we pride ourselves in
making sure we know where the fish are!
